Yeah tried that too, i'm looking for Xenofex or Eyecandy quality filters like lightning and fire and that nice stuff.

another gimp query. i haven't really tried yet, but can the gimp easily manipulate animated gimps? if so, any tips? if not, any alternatives to run on a mandrake system?

Animated gimps?  I've seen a few of those and it's not a pretty sight!  But if you mean animated GIFs then yes. I've made plenty for my band's web site using The GIMP.

Well, it's up to him if he wants to use GIF. How's the animated PNG (MNG) format coming? I should have advised him against using the GIF format if at all possible.
