Title: Editing IE History List
Post by: Soaring Down on 12 June 2005, 16:11
Hi Guys,

I know there are alot of IE URL/History/cache/temp/temp internet files cleaner or deleter. But after extensive search, I have yet to find a program or a solution to my problem here. If you could help me or suggest me some hints or tips, that would be great :).

Ok you know how when u type a link or visit a website, the link will be stored in the history list. And if you surf alot you can see how that list will expand. While expanding, you may encounter a website that has bad, error, wrong contents. And they will of course be included in the history list despite ur preference.

So from now on, whenever u typed a website link that is similar to those 'bad, error, wrong contents website', those links comes up automatically in a pull down list/window.

Now the question is, is it possible to EDIT the history list in the pull down list/window?

I emphasise on EDIT, because I know there is an option for delete. But what i want here is edit. I want to know if its possible to edit the history list and throw away the links I don't want and retain those I want.

Any replies, suggestion is appreciated :).

Wupps...

Sorry. I know this is anti-Microsoft forum. But I thought people might be annoyaned toward Microsoft's IE's configuration on 'not allowing to edit history list in an easy way'. And in that annoyance, I thought someone might take the whole step on trying to figure out how to do it.

But anyway, my intention weren't promoting microsoft or such, but as explained above, in my annoyance with microsoft, I thought someone in this forum might have the same feeling as I do and have the solution to help me with my problem.

In any case, if this thread is unappropiate, I guess the MODs can delete it.

Fuck IE, just use Firefox (http://www.getfirefox.com) or even Opera (http://www.opera.com/) - these are the solutions to your problems. :D

In Opera, look up the Opera directory

Open the directory "profile". Edit Global.dat with Vim (http://www.vim.org/download.php).

Here, you can edit the address list.

Seriously, Going Down, Use Firefox. In firefox, all you gotta do is select the one you don't want to appear, and press Shift+Delete. Boom. Gone for ever. And admit it. you're browsing porn :D.

Just use Mozilla/Firefox, most browsers similar are enough to IE that you'll have no problem transitioning.

And yes, we all know you're browsing porn.

Soaring Down:

browsing porn? the best browser for this is Opera. nope, not firefox, it is easier and does more in opera to eliminate your tracks. tools/delete private data
