All Things Microsoft > Microsoft Software
Look what this "sophisticated win user" has to say...

Actually FibreOp is not trolling. He is trying to get the attention that he cannot get from his family or the people he knows. He is probably 20 years old at the most, probably younger. He's having problems with his homelife, not to mention his peers. It would probably be safe to say that he's been involved in "counseling". He's not dumb, but he's very troubled. Even with the negative feedback we give him, it's still the best human interaction he can hope for right now. It's kinda sad, some of his posts are basically the,"I know you are but what am I" format. I think he still goes to school, where he has at most five people he interacts with. Yeah, he has some computer experience, but I really think it probably is only casual interest. Computers are probably the only link he has with the few people he talks to. He is more concerned about just reaching out to people trying to make contact. Obviously, a person who reverts to the third person when referring to himself has some problems relating socially. This will blow over eventually.
my explanation of you...
You can be highly annoying and therefore very effective. Instead of making a frontal attack, you attempt to shift the focus of the conflict to the combatants' psychological motivations and problems. you will freely speculate about other peoples insecurities, personalities and relationships but you will almost never directly engage the subject of dispute. Therefore known as a "therapist"

How come my USB NIC card had on the box "Supported OS: WINx W2K XP" and linux no where to be found
It's because the manufacturer will forever be answering support calls and trying to explain how to recompile the kernel over the phone.

WTF?!
I switched just so I could do what I needed to do! I got fucking fed up with IE locking up, the printer spooler getting corrupted, office crashing, and the whole box freezing because, how dare I?, I wanted to shut down!!!!
Its not a problem for me, havn't had a "freeze" when i tried to shut down in 2k.
Oh and try exiting your applications before you shut down, and delete the print jobs or they will be there when you boot up again
:D
btw the main file server where i work is NT4 and has 400 day uptime. HP NetServer, also have a VPN server running win2k terminal server and has been up for 100+ days.

notice that you are now the only person posting in this topic.
may i just say though that it was not mentioned anywhere that recompiling your kernel was necessary to make this windows only piece of hardware work. you are spewing shit out of your mouth and discrediting yourself even further. People can spot a liar a mile away. i would stick to facts if you want to be taken at all seriously.
I find that much of the hardware that you can install in linux does not even need you to restart your machine after installation. Compare that with my CDRW which needs two system reboots to install in windows. Windows itself needs to be rebooted five times when i install it and its drivers, linux needed rebooting NO times to install not only the system but all the necessary drivers AND several hundred applications.
here's ten pence, start saving up for a life, FibreOp.
