I don't believe he's a windoid, but he should know better than to ask for Windows help on a fuckmicrosoft forum.

Why Windows XP, and worst of all why IE?????
I can understand the need for dual boot, I do so myself for games.
Win2K and XP share exactly the same kernel, XP has lots of spyware added that's all.
Some of my friends pretend XP is superior for games but so far I haven't seen any evidnce of that.
And at least use Mozilla and/or Opera.
In Windows I have Opera as default browser and Mozilla as alternative for when Opera refuses to render a page correctly (I refuse to falsisfy statistics by letting Opera pretend it's IE or Netscape) and everything works like a charm

Of course they think it is, they hear that it is so they believe that it is.  They don't question, expiriment or anything else.  They just believe whatever is spoon fed to them by the media, which is heavily influenced by the Evil Empire itself.  Now, if you need games, there are better ways to go about it than XP.  Try the playstation 2, Game Cube, Linux with Wine, and if the others are not sufficient and you absolutely must, use win2K before XP, or even 98.  When you use XP you sell your soul.  No more.

This must be Monkey-Boy Bulmers "Added Value"

You don't just get one copy of IE you get hundreds - so get out of that you Linux geeks.

they've still to come up with a way for IE to copy itself onto a linux system!

personally i don't know why a linux version of IE has not been brought out. With MacOS, they keep trying to force IE down people's throats, but with linux which is exactly the same situation from the point of view of capturing an alien market share niche they seem adamant to *not* release IE.

I'm more surprised by the fact that they *have* released versions for hp-ux/solaris.

I wonder what would happen if there were 20 Awesome games released. that people would Die to get their little hands on Just because they are so awesome. then they Buy it , take it home and find out that the install.sh wont work in Windows.
So they goto the website and in the FAQ the question will be..

What Operating systems will run this game?
A: Linux 2.4.xx Kernel and up.

Will there be a version for windows?
A: NO

There is an IE for Linux. Here's the man page:

IE for Linux man page

And I've used IE (or tried to) on Solaris. It certainly isn't anything to write home about. In fact it just plain sucked (when it didn't lock up).

that man page is bollocks. sure, IE has all those features, but you cannot specify which ones you want to go on at specific times! they are all on by default!!!

I wrote about this very thing waaaaaaaaay back in December. I think it bears repeating. Why ask for help with Winderz here:
  • He already tried Microsoft tech support
  • No one on the Winblows forums could help him
  • He knows that lots of Linux and Mac people hang out here. In other words, people who actually know a thing or two about computers.
