It has bugs, but open source software isn't full of bugs. Windows is full of bugs. So much, that it often stops operating. And that isn't good considering it is an "Operating System"...it isn't doing half the job.

Windows XP hasn't stop working for me yet. Win2K never stopped operating either. Sure Win9x was so fucking bad that it needed to be re-installed like every few weeks...but that is not the case with NT(considering you don't have faulty hardware, you don't download a virus on a non-virus protected box or you don't install some poorly written hardware drivers).

But that is only because your an expert(?), and can configure it right.
Looks like this guy has some very cool stuff, particularly music.
Oh and IIRC, TCPA/Palladium means that stuff like Winamp and Photoshop will magically not work unless they pass MS testing. To pass MS testing they must implement the same DRM crap into their program.

I seriously doubt it. The Linux community has been saying that Linux will take over soon for the last 10+ years. Has it happened? No. It is nothing more than wishful thinking on the Linux communities' part.

Uh, not so fast... They haven't been saying that for 10+ years, Linus just wrote the kernel 10 years ago. Maybe about 6 or 8 years ago they started saying that. I was an early adopter and I was already puting it out on development group workstation desktops 8 years ago. I was in the *extreme* minority. Now look at how fast it's become popular as a server OS? Do you seriously think Novell, Sun, IBM, and Microsoft thought that were possible 6 or 8 years ago?
Remember, just 3 years ago Linux was not nearly as popular as it is as a server OS. I don't think it's too far of a stretch to think it could be as popular on the desktop in 3 years, as long as there are no political or monopolistic roadblocks (Palladium/TCPA/DMCA/etc).

The URL was removed.
I've been away a few days.
In the future I will leave strange things I find alone. :\

If MS does implement all of the BS to prevent people from sharing files, using non-DRMprotected media, etc. I'm sure there will be hacks out there(just like how the unhackable activation got hacked). I doubt that MS will be able to implement all of the media security stuff because other media players for Windows(like Winamp, Quicktime, etc.) will still be able to play non-protected media. For E-Mail...if you don't use Outlook Express I'm sure you will still be able to send whatever you want over E-Mail.
MS will not be able to stop users from using whatever they want on thier system. MS may be able to prevent users from doing stuff using MS software(like WMP and Outlook) but there will always be alternatives out there. ;P

Wasn't M$ aiming at getting DRM/TCPA stuff to be implemented as a part of the cpu chips as well or was that a figment of my imagination? I mean why else would they be 'working with' Intel and AMD and always refer to them as being for DRM changes?
NO FLAMES, just curious ;)
