I have used Opera for about 18 months.  Started with v5.01, currently using v6.0 on my W2K box.  I also use Opera 5.0 on my (very) recently installed Mandrake 8.1 box.  v6 is available for Linux, but it's a beta version - same as IE6!

I've 6.01 on this machine, where I am posting now. I first got in with 5.0, then 5.11, then 5.12, then 6.0.

Opera 4 ever!

i really liked opera in windows, and i love the mac version, but i just installed linux, and the linux version of opera, and... i don't like it!
i just don't!
opera seems to be a totally different sort of browser for each platform, unlike, for example, netscape.
I'm not recommending netscape, but i was a little disappointed by opera for linux...

Opera for linux is stil under developement. It got going late. The Opera Development team wants to replace netscape as the browser of choice for linux platforms.

BTW - I have a legally registered copy of Opera

I don't know if I would go so far as to say Netscape is the browser of choice for Linux.  Mozilla possibly and I have to think Konqueror and Galeon could just be the most used browsers.  And it would certainly be interested to see what Opera will be able to do although I seriously doubt I would be willing to give up a very nice open source browser for a closed source browser, but we'll see.

I certainly don't want to discourage it because Linux needs more applications vendors like this porting their software.  Linux needs more vendor companies.  Sure there will continue to be open source alternatives but if a money backed company can put out a rock solid product then businesses will buy it and it takes Linux to the next level.
