Why I hate outlook
« on: 14 June 2002, 17:06 »
I hate outlook because I can add the MSN junkmail to the junkmail senders list, but it still comes to my inbox. It won't stop. - Fuck them!

i hate outlook because legions of morons use it, and it results in tons of broken rtf format and broken html junk floating around as emails, and buggering up the text for those of us who like text only inboxes.

Also, it is part of the relentless shitml combo of internet exploder, lookout, M$Nmessmaker and Frontpage, which turns browsing the internet into a relentless nonstandard tiresome chore, even for those who do not use those products.

If Microsoft's products only pissed people off who were actually using them, then i'd be a great deal happier.

And I suppose you are offended by websites with graphics because they don't render well in Lynx.
You want webmasters to make optional "ascii-art" logos of their websites.
You're also appalled by newfangled games that require 128 mb RAM to run.

I've used Kmail and Evolution on my Linux box and they can read html mail perfectly...

PS I thought your modem was broken under Linux

it is, and all those accusations you level are total bullshit.

My email is web based, and i prefer to get my email as text, because i like it that way, simple.

that has nothing to do with images, or html, though i think if html is to be used, it should be forced to comply to the w3c standard, something no M$ product has demonstrated it can be trusted to do.

You must have a good connection.
I can't stand waiting for hotmail to load; it's too slow.  I use pop3 email most of the time.
Outlook I have no problems with other than it's a tad dangerous what with the viruses being so easily spread and all.

i don't use hotmail. I have a hotmail account for the rare occasions that i use trillian though...

When i say 'text based inbox' you assume "Linux" (wrongly)

When i say 'web based email' you assume "Hotmail" (again wrongly)

Your assumptions betray you, how can you expect people to take you seriously? do you in fact expect that?

I have a web based account at www.eboxmail.net which is not the best i suppose, but the inbox is six megabytes compared to hotmail's one (or is it 2 these days?) i haven't got one spam email yet, and they seem to have the most advanced blocking filtering thing that i have seen on web based email so far, so i'm happy, since it's free...

oh yes, and
quote:
The site eboxmail.net is running Apache/1.3.22 (Unix) (Red-Hat/Linux) mod_ssl/2.8.4 OpenSSL/0.9.6b DAV/1.0.2 PHP/4.0.6 mod_perl/1.24_01 on Linux.
to save you a trip to netcraft, but then you probably won't believe that anyway since
quote:
The site netcraft.com is running Apache/1.3.9 (Unix) mod_perl/1.20 on FreeBSD.

One more thing,
quote:
The site hotmail.com is running Microsoft-IIS/5.0 on Windows 2000.

Maybe that's the secret of why hotmail's so slow?

I prefer the name "Lookout" which I saw some other user here refer to it as. That is you have to look out if you use it because you are sure to have a virus infected machine in no time flat.
Someone please remove this account. Thanks...

There you go with that W3C crap again. I don't see why I should have to put <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN"> at the top of every page just because a bunch of wankers says so. If my site works in IE, I'm happy.

Dont forget that every email based virus known attaches itself through holes in outlook that MS refuses to fix, then emails to everyone on your mailing list.

Tell me, why is W3C in any more of a position to dictate standards than Microsoft is?  Furthermore, since IE is used by 95% of computer users, why don't other browsers just conform to the standards set by IE, and we would have none of this horse shit?

W3C is needed for making standards. Your statement is like saying why have IEEE, why not just let intel make up all hardware standards. You obviously dont have an understanding of this.
