But did it come from the disk that came with the printer?

AmericanBastard:
ok...I got it loaded...by skipping the configuration...then I manually set stuff...got the vid card working fine...sound card...hmm nogo, but it loaded everything for it and even let me set up the volumes n stuff....now back to the printer...I may have discovered the prob...does SuSe allow a parallel connection (ie...my scanner (an oldie but goody Mustek 1200lp is paralleled between my system and printer so it only uses one slot for both...another prob...I since have lost the adapter to take it off the parallel port and put it on a serial to run it seperate and it's to old for USB...any thoughts on that.  SuSe even identifies there's an unknown device between my puter and printer but wouldn't let me tell it that thingy in the middle was a scanner.  And nope the driver was the one inherent to SuSe Linux 8.2, I could try my driver disck but enter problem report # 6969696969:  Your shit was designed for a HP (really old puter ran win 98SE and was my first) Pavillion 4656 and this disc only contains drivers for 98SE, 98, 95, and 3.x...Time to go get a more modern printer I guess, but this one has always done exactly what I wanted, Photo's, Graphic Rendered images, generic print shtuff...oh well, it's a dinosaur.

Same question: Did you use the driver disk from your printer? I had the same problem with SuSE 7.3
If you don't have this disk, just get it from your vendor.

PS: Your printer will work with the right driver.
