Yast2 online update
« on: 8 June 2002, 20:23 »
Whenever I try to do an online update, Yast2 hangs on the "Getting serverlist from www.suse.de" screen.
I can't close the window anymore and have to xkill it.
Does anyone know what could be the problem, could it be that YOU refuses to connect because of proxy problems and is there any screen where I can add my isp's proxy addresses?

Format and reinstall.

Wait... You're using SuSE.

Sorry, can't help ya.
Free it, goddamnit!

Computer security is very much like home security - you can take as many security precautions as you like but if you leave windows open, sooner or later you'll get broken into. - (Calum 2003)

Suse makes a poor distribution of Linux from my experience.  It has very non-standard file locations, and it is a very brittle distribution that can break with just the slightest amount of tweaking.  After I installed it all the fonts were garbled, even after I installed new ones and ran the Yast updates. (which I had problems doing; Yast has some bugs)

OK, this is starting to freak even me out. I mean, he's actually helping people with Linux, without adding "but Windows XP is better".
