wine as standard.

also, support for as much hardware as you can manage, and if possible, as many required libraries and codecs for programs that require such things.

Sorry, that's all kind of more that 'apps' side of the system rather than the 'system' side of it...

just my two pence worth!

I'm glad to hear this is coming out! how much can i get it for mail order, and will i be able to run it on my laptop?

well, i was considering a version of wine. and for user friendlynes, at first, when its just me working on it, it wont' be to freindly to install. like the first installer will probably consist of LOAF and an .iso file and a few instuctions. though thanks for the idea, by any chance has there every been a program that reads options from a configure file and creates a graphical representation of those options

I'm sorry, I just had to add some stuff:

OpenOffice;
Tux Racer;
Frozen Bubble;

I know they are simple, and a bit useless (except OpenOffice) programs, but I really like them.

have you decided what kernel to use? I am making my LFS right now and i am thinking of using the 2.5 development kernel. You could try and use the Mach kernel... but that will pose a lot of work.
