lilo edit
« on: 24 November 2002, 04:34 »
i'm trying to edit my lilo for a few things...i want to change linux as my default now (now that i'm getting used to it), and change linux.bak and linux.bak1 to show the kernal versions. i logged into root and edited /etc/lilo.conf using vi and changed everything, saved it, but when i booted up, it looked the exact same as it did before i edited it, so i logged back in root to look at it, maybe i actually didn't save it... but the lilo.conf file is the way i want it!!

how am i supposed to edit lilo?

after you've edited lilo.conf you have to run lilo to make the changes take effect.

I say you should use GRUB.
