make install blues....
« on: 4 November 2002, 19:23 »
Hi all,

I am trying to install some plugins for XMMS, they are .gz files. After
extracting the files to the folder and running ./configure, make, make install,
the plugins refuse to install.

I am attaching the log files below. I have installed all the development tools.
Am on RedHat 8. Could someone pls tell me as to what the prob is?

thanks,

em... i think you just need to put the *.gz files into the plugins directory of xmms. It will be somewhere like /usr/share/xmms/Plugins/

do 'find / -name *xmms* -print' to find out where it might be, and then copy the .gz files (still zipped) into that directory. also, you can put winamp skins in there too, as .wzs files or as .zip files and they will work fine too.

No....The documentation which came with the plugin clearly mentions to extract, ./configure, make and then make install......

Do I need to install something other than gcc?

I copied the .gz files to the plugins folder and that did not work.....

pls help!

I think you need to install the xmms-devel* and gtk+-devel* rpms.
