question about running windows apps on linux

(1/2) > >>

hnugz:
There are windows emulators out there for linux correct?  I mean, the main reason I use windows is so I can play my games.  What can I do to run these games on linux?  Or any windows app for that matter.  I'm running mandrake 9 if that makes a difference.

Doogee:
WINE is meant to be alright but for DirectX stuff use WineX, also ive heard some programs run better on VMWare.

jtpenrod:
[*]WINE[*]Win4Lin[*]VMWare[/list]

If I downloaded WINE from http://winehq.org/download/  as a binary and then compiled the source did it come with WINEX?  I have been trying to get Half Life to run but when I start a game it has just a black screen.  I used the Linux Half Life instructions that I found on a site that I cannot remember at the moment and it said nothing about a "WINEX"

Doogee:
no WineX doesnt come with Wine, u can get winex from cvs from Transgaming
