Boy do I love Wikipedia.

quote:Demilitarized Zone - network or part of a network, separated from other systems by a firewall which allows only certain types of network traffic to enter or leave. In a typical example, a company will protect its internal networks from the internet with a Firewall, but will have a separate DMZ to which the public can gain limited access.  Public web servers might be placed in such a DMZ.

One the router or the hub, one port will be marked as uplink. this is either a spearate port, or there is a button to toggle a specified socket (usually the first or last) to either uplink or normal mode.

You put one device on uplink and chain it onto the other device with normal CAT5 patch, simple

Yea id just get a second hub, you can use an ethernet bridge in Linux and the computer will pretty much act like a 2 port hub.

My network:

Cable ethernet --> Linux router --> Switch --> Computer 1 + Computer 2
