fucking staroffice
Master of Reality:
theres that profanity again.
I installed staroffice a while ago and most of the time when i start i get a different error message each time.
The first time it said there was a bad file (or 1 missing) and repaired it. Then it did it again. Then I ran from the konsole as superuser and it worked. then I tried opening about 12 different prgrams and X restarted and closed them all. Now I tried it (from console as SU) and it just says 'aborted' and exits. Now i tried again and it says it cant open the DISPLAY. Might it be time to restart Linux?
What the hell was the point of dling staroffice mere minutes before i had to pay for it is it doesnt even work.

Master of Reality:
I actually had to restart Linux. I was doing things iwth programs in KDE and then hit ctrl-alt-F1 to switch to a terminal and it just froze. I waited a couple seconds, tried a couple things, and it wasnt doing anything at all. I was forced to restart (ctrl-alt-del)... There goes two weeks of uptime. Now staroffice works though.

I use StarOffice and the only problem I had was when I tried to install it as root....but when I installed it as user(insert_name_here) it installed fine and works every time.
Why I think I might even do my ERD diagrams on it...yeah thats it....uhm can StarOffice do Chen diagrams?
Master of Reality:
I installed it as root. Now I dont think it will work with user... I think i gotta change the permissions on the files.

No wonder no one uses Star Office. No one would use it even if Sun gave it away for free! (which they actually do, up to version 5.2)
Too bad you can't run some real software on Linux, like MS Office.
