? about mac software
« on: 2 January 2003, 13:08 »
I am a PC user running RedHat 8.0 interested in getting a new Titanium Powerbook. Do macs come with the software on disk? I read on the Apple site that the Powerbook comes pre loaded with OS-X and OS 9.1 and by default boots into OS-X. I am wanting to know does it also come with an install disk of all the software that is pre loaded?
When I finally buy one, I am interested in maybe installing Yellow Dog Linux on it also and was wanting to know if it came with the install disks incase something should go wrong.

Everything comes pre-installed, you also get a bunch of software restore disks, and a separate disk with just the applications on it.  And unlike m$ apple gives you the option to not install thier software when your installing os 10.  All the iApps are included with the exclusion of iDVD, unless you buy a mac with a superdrive.

My Macs always came with the full install disks as well as software restore disks.
All of the included apps are on the restore disks, IIRC.

I went to CompUSA today and played around on the new titanium powerbook 1ghz, 512mb ram with superdrive. That machine is sweet! I want one even more now.
