I'm still wondering though... is it possible to go to warp when the impulse engine is down?
Some episodes say yes, others seem to say no... very confusing.

Considering that there is about 600 or so episodes of star trek, it is no suprise that there are many inconsistancies. I would think that they do need impule to go to warp, unless they have more ways of propultion
