earthquake
hoojchoons:
Britain doesn't suffer from earthquakes because it "sits" on top of the tectonic plates. Contrarily, Greece is located right between the Eurasian and the African tectonic plates. Basically, that means that whenever those plates move they produce an earthquake and create seismic breaches. The same goes for California and the infamous St Andrew's breach, Japan, Turkey (our beloved neighbours), Armenia etc etc etc.

Britain does get quakes, it's just that they have the siezmometers set very very sensitive in order to detect them. There were measurements being taken on the Isle of Wight, and the equipment was set so low that people walking past (or making love upstairs, so the urban legend goes) could be measured on it.
Every country gets quakes it's just that the only places that 'suffer' bad quakes are on the plate lines.
We had one here in New England, but I never felt it, it was like 2.4 or something, a few months ago. Of course plates can crack, so new fault line can develop anywhere, at anytime, that aught to help you sleep, ha ha ha.
Acid never made me shake (that was generally when I was coming down, not that I partake anymore, only nice legal antibiotics for meeeeeeee).

You're not, but this server is, so your forum browsing could be interrupted nonetheless.
I would think the sheer joy of living in California would make it worth it. For me, anyway. Instead, I'm stuck in NJ . . .

Well, I think California is a nice place to visit (been there many times) but I wouldn't want to live there. But I could be in the minority on that one. I am very happy with where I live even though it is commonly referred to by both left and right coaster's as "fly-over country".
