Ok there is a command like "nettrace" or "netstat"  I'm not exactly sure if that's the right name.  Search Google to find out.  Anyway to get his IP get him to send you a file or you send him a picture or something.  While it's sending run one of those commands and it will tell you what computer your connected through.  I've only tried this using Yahoo messenger but I'd assume this would work wil AOL also.

ya.... i remember.. i had a progrma named net*** (cant remember) for windows and it would keep track of all my connections, so if you used it you could send him a file and find out what his ip is. I learned about the progrma from www.happyhacker.org
I will try and find it for ya

How ironic!  I'd just come across something similar on another website.  And I've been testing it some of my buddies, just to make sure it works and so far there's only been one person who's IP address I haven't been able to obtain.

Anyways, what you do (for anybody who's ever used AIM or a similar chat program and know what I'm talking about) is directly connect to the person in question.  Then (this part requires Window or DOS, which I'm unfortunately still using due to a lack of time to learn anything alternative), open up a DOS command prompt and type "netstat -n" and that brings up a list of all connections to your computer and their IP address.  Then I pop on over to NeoTrace (or something similar) and find out exactly where this cocksmoker is.

So, now I've just got to be patient and hope they decide to show up online again.  Thank you all for your time and for you help.  Both are greatly appreciated.

linux is a powerful ally when doing scans and things like that. Tell us his IP when you get it

what you can do once you get the IP is do a tracert (in DOS type "tracert ***.***.***.***") and you can send an e-mail to his abuse@hisISP and get him kicked off the internet.
