does anyone think that that calculator kicks ass, i mean, it is versitale, now that there is  a version of gcc for it. and its not quite an alternitave platform, but hey, its' different, and has a great programing environment built into it

yea i'm using a TI-83plus and haven't had a single problem with it....not bad games for playin in class without bein busted, good features for my uses, and was great for the price. the TI-89 is a higher end setup so i'm not suprised that it kicks ass.....1 thing i wouldn't mind is somehow flash my ti-83plus with like debian, linux distro for calculators, or anything like that...like program an eeprom and set it up as a linux embedded or somethin, ANY IDEAS OR DOWNLOADS? i've got the cables and everything to flash the system so i'm covered l8r

linux is waaayyyy too big to fit on the calc. and your calculator, if you didn't know it already, the ti83 uses a z80.

What about the ti-92? has a full keyboard, but i'm not sure about the expansion slot. I know it had one, but I want to say it was a 2 MB card...

I, too, have a TI-83+. I was considering writing some kind of text-based shell for it, but, alas, my TIBasic coding skills aren't up to par. Then again, you have to consider whether or not a single person on this earth is ever going to use TI Basic in the real world...

on the TI83's the version of basic is pretty damned basic, but the 89's, its something i wish they would port to pc, it has advanced loops, and everything one would expect in a modern language, it's not even the print 10 kinda basic, you have to call functions, i love it

Well, thanks for the plug, I'll check out this site. Does anyone have a link to that site that showed you how to create your own TI-Link cable?

My brother has a cal like that, personally i would prefer a Pocket PC or somthing with Red-Hat Embedded or somthing. I have a TI 33 or somthing but its just an ordanary calc.

if its x80 cpu you could port CP/M

x86 was based on 80!
