Anti-TCPA movement.

David:
psyjax, sorry for not posting in a while, I tried to make some graphics that I thought might be good for your site but it turns out I'm shit at graphics... so you won't be getting them.

Been having a rough time lately, my fears about Palladium are making it worse... I live in the UK so what I will do in terms of direct action is write to the new Director General for Competition at the Eurpean Commission.  He has just been appointed and will take up office on the 1st of September, I will write then.  He has already warned Micro$hit about Palladium, so maybe he is a good guy.

Email me at david.is@ntlworld if there is anything I can do, and let us have a link when your site is up and running!  Can't wait to see it!

sporkme:
if you want to get windows people to read it, make the tone of the site more imformative than revolutionary.

if i had more time i would work on it with you... i am behind it 100%.

also, explain it in simple terms that grandma on webtv can decipher... these are really the people that it would hurt the most.

just imagine what the world will become if they pull this over.

shit... it's probably already a done deal ::loads gun, looks around nervously::

David:
It might be a good idea for the site if you make the point that if people don't want email viruses and bugs on their computer, they should ditch Microsoft's products.  If you make a big deal out of that it may help to convince 'marginal' users that MS' crappy software is not harmless, but is actually dangerous to the security of their computers because of all its flaws.

I'm sure there must be a ton of articles on the net about that.

HPC GUY:
id love to see a site dedicated to this stuff. Last thing we need is for ms and intel to tighten their strangle hold on the pc market.

lazygamer:
Well the key is to show them things that affects the average user the most.

Security flaws and viruses are icing on the anti-tpc cake IMO(not the cake itself), staying away from the "wrong situations" keeps a computer low on hack attacks and viri. Although security+viri is a major issue, I feel it appears as paranoia to a certain extent. Im honestly not saying that it's BS, im just saying that it's not part of your standard n00b desires or concerns.

The spyware issue is worse then security flaws and viruses, it's guranteed to come off as paranoia and be unprovable to the standard person.

What you need is to bring up the issues of compatibility(hardware wise), stability, and speed. Bloat and backwards incompatibility(software wise) are so-so, but not your main anti-Microsoft selling points.

Hmmm wait a sec, were talking about TCPA not Microsoft stuff in general. BUT, what if it could be proven(my above pointS) that Microsoft sucks to the average user about average desires. Then use this as a booster to point out "If these guys make your Windows like this, do you trust them to give you the compatible, fast and stable TCPA interface that you deserve?"

Now in reality, NO ONE deserves a TCPA, it's a flawed concept regardless of who makes it or how good it actually is. However, you must come off as being concerned for their "bang for buck" and not for Microsoft dominating the cyber world etc. In addition, security might be something that could be utilized better to the layman in anti-TCPA arguments.

Before I finish, here's a n00b pro-TCPA argument I thought up.  :D

"This may be true what you say about Wind0ze security, but with TCPA Microsoft is constantly monitoring the network. So the ball is out of my court, and in the hands of a massive team of computer security experts."
