Microsoft on the Gadget Show

enigma_01:
Anyone see the gadget show on TV in the UK on the 25/02/05?

Microsoft's vision of the house of the future was disturbing...

No front door keys, you wont need them, just a hand scanner. I had to wonder what would happen if you put on a Surgical glove and applied just the right ammount of presure over someone else's greasy finger print residue.. Would the door unlock itself promptly for the Man burgling your house? What a fantastic idea! That'll stop em from getting in for sure! :p

And the idea of walking round with Clothe's filled with RFID tags and a computer on the wardrobe that suggest's what to wear when you go out stick's me as being just a tad sad. When I go out I dont ask the computer what I should wear...

It's all well and good having a house controled by a computer, but.. What if a virus infects the House and you suddenly find yourself locked inside with the temprature rising with no way to communicate your plight with the outside world.. You cant open the window.. those are all computer controlled as is the Phone and pretty much everything in the house. But dont worry theres still running water right! So dont panic just relax, it'll take you at least 6 weeks to waste away...

At the end of the show the woman sat on the couch reading a childs story book and the house reacts to the story with the right lighting and effect's to compliment the story.. That will probably disturb children into having nightmares about the house being alive instead of soothing them off to sleep!

solemnwarning:
i didnt c it, any1 know where i can dl it?

btw wtf is wrong with a pwd on the door insted of palf print?? (oh yeah bill gates is too thick to remember a pwd )
and why would u need computer controlled windows??
also linux house would be better lol

anyway i expect there would be an emergency manual lever on the window and inside of door for things like powercuts and viruses anyway

:tux: house = good
M$ house = shit

I never understood why Microsoft is related to gadgets and hardware technology.
You want that, go to IBM, Apple, Creative, Dell even, but not Microsoft.
You want bullshit and bloatware, go see them.

Not possible. The device scans for the right ammount of heat for an alive finger without gloves (this device already exists and isn't build of related in any way to Microsoft).
What I'm wondering is: how are you supposed to get access if your finger had a wound or cut?

For the people who find enigma geeky and a possible sci-fi writer, you're wrong. This could be an actual scenario in the future.
Who would believe in 1990 that your mobile phone of BMW could catch a computer virus?

Scan more than one finger.
