What's a good IRC Program?
« on: 13 April 2002, 16:45 »
Okay, so i'm stuck using windows for the internet, since i DO have a driver for my 'winmodem' in linux, but it only works with linux 2.4, and i have 2.2.
SO, in the meantime, what's a good IRC program that isn msn messenger?
a free, nonspyware one would be great. And not ICQ either, as it fucks yr hard drive...
Oh yes, once i do get a newer copy of linux, i'd like to still be able to use an irc program in it, without getting ll my friends to change their programs, so a program that works cross platform windows/linux would be good. Any ideas? which is best?
thanks...

Thanks! but are they crossplatform compatible?

I just choose to avoid icq because i had a couple of friends who were both running win98, with zonealarm, and chatting via icq. they both independently (a couple of weeks apart) had problems with the data on ther hard drives, and they suspect icq. i never bothered to look into it, but i will be steering clear i think.

so are those programs crossplatform compatible?

use the trillian messenger to run ICQ. Trillian can run MSN, yahoo, AIM, and ICQ if you want an account in any of those (i would only suggest ICQ). www.trillian.cc

Once you get linux switch over to Licq.

If you use ICQ with Trillian, ICQ doesn't say you are online. Use both ICQ and Trillian side by side.
