Removing hardware using add/remove hardware in 2k
« on: 1 October 2002, 20:53 »
The events were in this order:

I removed 2 cards and added 1.

I went into add/remove hardware (which I never used in 2k before) to delete/remove instances of these cards.

Entries other than what I clicked on got removed.  I thought it was a fuke so I continued to remove the other card.

Before I rebooted most of the hardware list in add/remove hardware was gone.

I rebooted and the new hardware wizard came up with all the missing hardware:  highpoint controller, video card, network card, usb camera and I don't remember what else.

Anyone know what happened?

I thought I only clicked on one entry each time since it appears you can only remove one at a time anyway.  I know I didn't click on the video card, usb camera, network card!

You really should ask this on a Microsoft support forum such as http://www.windowsbbs.com/ as this site is anti-M$. While many people here probably know the answer to your question you will likely get more responses telling you to switch operating systems (which is good advice) rather than helping you with your question.

While the quality of help you get on http://www.windowsbbs.com/ might be far lower than you can get here there are plenty of people willing to try and answer your questions. Hope you don't take this advice as a flame because I really am trying to be helpful, without actually being directly helpful.

Gee....I thought I had a hard on against M$.

Guess you guys have me beat!

No offense taken..no problem.  I really don't think it is a M$ problem.  After all when did M$ ever have a problem with it's operation systems?

Anyone know when SP4 is comming out?..............hihi

I don't know if I would go so far as to say I have "hard on" over hating M$. But I can tell you that at least my nipples get hard over it.

Weird, I saw two IP addresses from the "Today's posts" in your message:

210.49.230.33
211.28.96.70

which are from "optusnet.com.au" dialup:

http://www.optusnet.com.au/

However, I don't see mention of those two IP addresses in your message above.. Confused...

[edit]
duh! I see your message in a different thread listing those IP addresses.
