Hidden Files
static:
Ok I found this site while trying to clean as much usless crap from my computer as possiable. I am running XP pro and IE 6.0
I tried following the directions to enter DOS and clean out the hidden files, however I had no luck. First of all I could not find "command prompt only" just "safe mode with command prompt" then SMARTDRV and DELTREE would not work? Any suggestions?

Sure, The Really Hidden Files is a complete myth. It is bullshit propagated by delusional Apple fans in their plot to take over the world.
I prove it is a myth under Windows XP here: http://kintaro.noobify.com/kintarolabs/viewtopic.php?p=465#465
Refalm:
You're absolutely wrong here. Content.IE5 does exist in Windows XP and Windows XP SP1.
It seems to be removed in Windows XP SP2.
In Windows XP SP1, Content.IE5 is clearly unhidden.

Install Linux, problem solved?
Aloone_Jonez:
This wasn't the issue Content.IE5 is present in all versions of Windows 95+, and it's hidden too, (remember the post that got me banned). I don't know about sp 1 but with sp 2 when you delete the Temporary Internet files they vanish leaving only the index.dat files and even though their size remains the same the personal information they contain dissappears and is replaced with a repeating pattern of bytes.
See this thread for more details. We really need to remove this article, I've known this is bullshit for sometime now and it's starting to annoy me, this really isn't helping our course.
