Can you prove to my brother that XP sucks more then W98?

This is why I ask. All the grandmasters of these forums keep talking about how XP sucks WAY more then W98 does, and how you have alot more customizability, power etc. with W98.
My bro has no problem in trying out Linux, it's just he's much happier with XP compared to W98.

Well, if you think that, you're not a grandmaster. Well, actually, that depends on what you call a grandmaster, but you're certainly not a windows wizard.
XP is as customizable and sligtly more powerful than 98. Some of the customization might be harder to find/implement, but wizards don't really care much.
If you want a win for *compatibility* I would reccomend Win98 though (for the moment at least).

What do I define as a grandmaster? One of the regulars here who appears to know what's he's talking about, is a computer nerd, thinks MS is shit etc.

XP uses the NT kernal, which is based on an idea in Unix. It is much more stable, although the simple stuff, like copying files, run much slower.
The point about XP is that it has far more dubious content in the EULAs and has more phone home type stuff, and has been geared towards that most stupid of ideas .net and all the passport bollocks that goes with it. XP has been geared towards an assumption of you being on the net and working through the net for everything you want. They have more control over your computer as a result of this piece of software being installed.

Ah ha! So summary is, use late beta version and run a few "spyware BS removal programs" and you get a much nice wind0ze experience.
