It's the best way to boot off the HD, but I think that , for now, a floppy with GRUB is the way to go.

first make the swap on the first drive...

Are you comfortable, are your shoes too tight, can I get you a drink?
Perhaps now would be the time to create partitions? Maybe a Primary partition that uses the whole available space, and then carve that up into whatever everybody decides.
